Travel highlights Dublin
Dublin doors
Merrion Square is famous for its Georgian town houses which mostly date back to the end of the 18th century. These beautiful houses are today famous for its colorful painted front doors.
Grafton Street
For a good day of shopping you need to be in Grafton street. Beautiful historic buildings house nice shops, restaurants, bars and cafés. In short: Grafton street provides everything for a nice combination of shopping and relaxing.
Ha'penny Bridge
That the Big Ben is to London, the Ha’penny Bridge is to Dublin. The city's oldest pedestrian bridge was built in 1816 as an alternative to the ferry crossing the Liffey. Its name is connected to the toll (a penny) that had to be paid for crossing the bridge. Today it is Dublins most famous sightmark and more or less 30,000 people cross Ha’penny every day.
Kilmainham Gaol
Some of Ireland's most wanted prisoners were held captive in Kilmainham Gaol between 1796 and 1924. Men, women and children were all living in the same prison. Today it is a prison museum, giving insights in life of Irelands’ inmates in the past.
Pubs
Dublin is the pub-capital of the world. Around every corner you will find a cozy pub with Guinness and live music. You simply cannot leave Ireland without having experienced an Irish Pub evening.
Trinity College
Dublin's oldest university was founded in 1592. Due to a high standard of education a lot of famous Irish have studied here. A beautiful campus, with the 18th century library as an absolute highlight: more than 4,5 million of books make it the biggest library of Ireland. Here you will find the world famous ‘The Book of Kells’, a gospel manuscript dating back to the 9th century.
